What is the Treatment Process?

How the VenaSeal Procedure Works:

Duplex ultrasound is used to map your vein. After this, local anesthesia is applied to a small area of the lower leg. A thin catheter is inserted through a small entry point, usually near the knee.

VenaSeal Glue is then injected into the vein using a special applicator over the catheter. A small amount of glue (0.1 mls) is injected 3 cm along the length of the vein. After this procedure, compression stockings are not needed. Patients are given all the necessary information for the process after the treatment.

You will be encouraged to walk immediately after the procedure. Your normal daily activities can begin immediately - you should avoid gym exercises and heavy work for a while.

A slight pain may occur in the thigh. Usually this can occur over a few days to a few weeks and is not a pain to worry about. Over-the-counter painkillers can be used in this process (after talking to your doctor and getting approval).

Patients often ask if this procedure is painful, the answer is No! No procedure is required other than local anesthesia. After this stage, patients will not feel any pain or discomfort.
