Varimed® Anti-Embolism Stockings: Comfort and Benefit for Patients

Varimed® Anti-Embolism Stockings are designed according to the "TS ENV 12719 Medical Thrombosis Prophylaxis Stocking" standard, aiming to provide maximum comfort and benefit for patients. Available in three types - knee-high, thigh-high, and waist-high - the stockings cater to a wide range of measurements.

Features:

  • Easy Differentiation: Each size has a distinct color on the heel area for easy identification.
  • Blood Flow Control: A dedicated opening under the toes allows for monitoring blood circulation.
  • Non-Slip: Thigh-high versions come with a silicone dot band to prevent slipping.
  • Comfortable Waistband: Waist-high stockings feature a transparent inner seam elastic and an adjustable elastic waistband for comfort.
  • Hypoallergenic: Made with Oeko-Tex 100 certified materials to minimize allergic reactions.
  • Graduated Compression: Applies maximum pressure at the ankle, gradually decreasing towards the calf and thigh, to promote blood flow.

Applications:

  • Reduces the risk of deep vein thrombosis (DVT).
  • Used for other venous disorders like chronic venous insufficiency.

Contraindications:

  • Localized leg problems like cellulitis, dermatitis, or gangrene
  • Severe arterial stiffness or ischemic vascular disease
  • Excessive edema in legs or congestive heart failure
  • Extreme leg deformities

Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) and Prevention:

DVT is the formation of blood clots in deep veins. If a clot travels to the lungs, a pulmonary embolism can occur.

Factors that increase the risk of DVT:

  • Certain cancers
  • Oral contraceptive use
  • Trauma or major surgery
  • Long-distance travel

Symptoms of DVT:

  • Swelling, pain, tenderness, and warmth in the leg
  • Swelling in the ankle, foot, and thigh

Ways to Reduce DVT Risk:

  • Regular exercise
  • Avoiding prolonged sitting or standing
  • Drinking plenty of fluids
  • Using medical compression stockings like Varimed® Anti-Embolism Stockings
